This is a perfect guilt free snack to munch on. I loved these when people shared these during the Ganesha festival. This doesn't include frying or any kind of fat ,it makes a very good snack. Easy to make,this is an authentic recipe from Karnataka. Serves for four people.
Ingredients,
Black chick peas- 1 1/2 cups
Cooking oil- 2. tbsps
Mustard seeds- 1/2 tsp
Cumin seeds- 1/2 tsp
Fresh coconut- 1/2 cup ( grated)
Green chillies- 3-4 ( finely chopped)
Asafoetida- a pinch
Curry leaves -4
Salt- 1 tsp
Ingredients,
Black chick peas- 1 1/2 cups
Cooking oil- 2. tbsps
Mustard seeds- 1/2 tsp
Cumin seeds- 1/2 tsp
Fresh coconut- 1/2 cup ( grated)
Green chillies- 3-4 ( finely chopped)
Asafoetida- a pinch
Curry leaves -4
Salt- 1 tsp
- Soak black chick peas in water enough to immerse for 8 hours or overnight ( note that the chick peas are going to bulge in water).
- Cook them for three whistles in a pressure cooker with a pinch of bicarbonate of soda ( optional) and 1/4 cup of water.
- Heat the pan and add 2 tbsps of oil.As it gets heated add mustard seeds.Once they splutter,add cumin seeds,qq and curry leaves.
- Add coconut grated and green chillies ( finely chopped) . Toss a little .
- Add cooked black chick peas and salt and mix well while it is still on the stove and cook for a minute. Increase cooking time if any water in left after the chick peas are cooke until the water evaporates.
- Turn off the stove and serve .
In a heated pan add oil.Add mustard seeds and cumin seeds.
Add finely chopped green chillies and grated coconut.
Saute well.

tempering and cook well until salt is mixed well.
