Paneer Butter Masala


Indian cottage cheese A.K.A  paneer cubes cooked in spiced tomato sauce ,yes we are talking about paneer butter masala. This is the one thing which most people order it when they go to restaurants.
I have tried this many times. I have even tried this using ready made masala ( rasoi magic), which is also good. Doing the spice at home tastes as much good as the ready made masala.

Ingredients,
Paneer - 15 -20( cubes)
Tomatoes -2 ( made into purée)
Onions- 1/2 cup ( chopped in big pieces)
Butter- 1/2 tbsp
Ginger- 1/2 tbsp ( grated)
Garlic- 1 ( finely chopped ,I grated it)
Bay leaf - 1
Cinnamon- 1 inch
Red chilli powder- 1 tsp (Add only 1/2 teaspoon if you wnat the gravy to be mild)
Salt- 1 tsp
Garam masala- 1 tsp
Cream - 1/2 cup ( I used whipping cream)
Kasoori methi - 1 tbsp.

Take two tomatoes and put the in boiling water until you see all the skin of the tomatoes have peeled off and grind it into purée.
Take 1/2 tbsp of butter and add bay leaf and cinnamon. Add grated ginger and garlic.
Add cut onions and sauté .
Add puréed tomatoes and 1/2 cup of cream and  simmer.Let the gravy be a little thick.
Add red chilli powder,salt and garam masala. Let it cook for a minute.
Add kasoori methi and stir well.Add paneer cubes.
Let this cook till the gravy thickens.
Serve hot with Naan or Rotis.

Boil tomatoes in water until the skin peels off and 
grind it into a fine paste.


Heat pan and add butter.

Add bay leaf and cinnamon.

Add grated ginger and garlic.

Mix well and cook.Let it get slight brownish in color.

Add onions to the sauted ginger and garlic .
Saute onions well and add grinded tomatoes.

Add milk cream.

Cook until it starts to bubble.

Add red chilli powder,salt and garam masala.

Mix well.

Add paneer cubes and kasoori methi
and cook until the gravy thickens.
