You will need a few puris ( puris used for pani puri)
Ingredients for the gravy,
Potato-1 large
Peas- 1/2 cup ( unsoaked ,I haven't used fresh peas as they ususally become soggy)
Coriander- 1/2 ( chopped)
Onions- 1 cup ( cut in big pieces)
Tomatoes- 1 cup ( cut in big pieces)
Salt- 1and 1/2 teaspoon
Green chillies- 1 -2 (I used only 1)
Water- 1 and 1/4 cup
Soak peas overnight or 4-5 hours.
Cook Potato(skin pealed) and peas together in pressure cooker till 3 whistles.
Saute onions and tomatoes in a tsp of oil.
Grind sauted onions ,tomatoes ,coriander, cooked potato and green chillies with 1/4 cup of water.
In a pan add the above blended mix with salt and cook for a minute.
Add cooked peas,masala powder (given below,1 tbsp) and boil for another 2 minutes with a cup of water.(Add red chilli powder if required.)
Masala powder,
Cinnamon- 1 inch
Coriander- 1 tsp
Cumin seeds- 1 tsp
Star anise(Anistar)- 1/4 of the star ( I plucked 2 petals of it)
Black pepper- 1/4 tsp
Grind all the above ingredients into powder.
Grind all the ingredients into fine powder.
Sprinkles,
Sev- 1/2 cup
Onions- 1/2 cup ( finely chopped)
Tomatoes- 1/2 cup ( cut into small pieces)
Coriander- 1/2 cup ( finely chopped)
Take a 6- 7 pooris and mash them,add 1 big ladle full of gravy.
Add the sprinkles like onions ,tomatoes and coriander and sev.
Saute onions and tomatoes in a tsp of oil.
Grind cooked potato,sauted onion and tomatoes,coriander
and green chilli.
Cook grinded mix and bring it to boil.
Add salt and 1 cup water
Add masala powder prepared and cooked peas
and cook for 2 minutes.
Mash puris lightly with your hands.
Add gravy.
Sprinkle with onions,tomatoes and coriander and sev.
Gouri.. this is a type of new Chaat for me. Instead of the regular chutneys, the masala looks good here. Wish to make this soon.
