Plum Oatmeal bars


Since the holiday seasons have started baking sweets have interested me a lot.Saw this recipe on tv and thought that it would be easy to do .This is Ree Drummond's recipe.I have used plum jam instead of strawberry jam that she uses in her recipe.You can use any jam you like.My kid asked me to do this next time with orange marmalade instead of plum jam,would like to give it try too.

Ingredients,
All purpose flour - 1 and 1/2 cups
Quick oats - 1 and 1/2 cups ( I used Quaker oats)
Brown sugar -1 cup
Baking powder - 1 teaspoon
Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
Butter -2 sticks ( that would be 8 oz ) (room temperature butter)
Red plum jam- 8-9 ounces ( I used 1/2 of the jam bottle of 18 ounces, Use any jam you like)


  • In a bowl pour in the flour,oats,brown sugar,baking powder and salt.Mix well
  • Add room temperature butter (2 sticks) and mix well .
  • Coat a baking pan with butter.
  • Pour in half of the mixture prepared to ten buttered pan and spread with your hands.
  • Spread the jam through out.
  • Slowly press in the remaining of the mixture prepared over the jam spread.
  • Bake at 350 deg F for 30-40 minutes.
In a bowl pour in the flour,oats,brown sugar,baking powder
 and salt.Mix well


Add 2 sticks of butter(room temperature) and 
knead well.


After kneading it.


Coat the pan with butter.


Now add 1/2 of the prepared mix into the pan and 
spread with your hands.Pour in the jam and spread it.


Add the remaining oatmeal and flour mix and 
spread it across with your fingers.Bake at 350degF
for 30-40 minutes.



After baking.

After it gets cooled cut it into pieces .
