Snake Gourd Fritters/ Padaval Kayi Pakoda.

Snake gourd fritters are so yummy.These are done just the way the potato fritters are done.These are deep fried snacks using chick pea flour,rice flour and roasted chana dal ( putani) flour.The snake gourd I have used was fresh and a very young one,so when I cut this i didnt get a ring shaped slices with a hole in them .Slowly immerse these slices in the batter and deep fry them in cooking oil.


Ingredients,
Chick pea flour(besan)- 1 cup
Roaste chana dal flour- 1/4 cup ( makes fritters crispy)
Rice flour- 1/4 cup
Jeera ( cumin seeds) - 1 tsp
Red chilli powder- 1 tsp
Salt- 1 tsp
Hot oil- 1 tbsp
Asafoetida- a pinch
Water- enough for the batter
Cooking oil- for deep frying.


  1. Take all the flours in a bowl.Add red chilli powder, jeera, salt and asafoetida.
  2. Add a tbsp of hot oil to this mix.It should be hot so that when you add the oil to the flour it starts sizzling.
  3. Slowly add water to this and make batter . The batter shouldn't neither be watery not too thick.
  4. Dip the snake gourd slices into this batter and deep fry them. Keep flipping them every few seconds so that they cooked evenly and not burnt out.
  5. You can even add carom seeds to these fritters' batter.
