Potato Curry ( for dosa)

We make this potato curry for almost all dosas. I have put different types of dosas in my blog but not the potato curry which go with them . South Indians are most likely to make potato curry and chutney for dosas rather than chutney and sambar. I have used onions, if the potato curry has to be done without onions then you can add coriander leaves to garnish instead of onions.

Ingredients,
Potatoes - 2
Onions- 1 1/2 cups ( cut in small pieces)
Green chillies- 2 ( slit length wise or cut onto small pieces)
Oil- 1 tbsp
Curry leaves- 3-4
Mustard seeds- 1 tsp
Cumin seeds- 1 tsp
Asafoetida-  a pinch
Turmeric- 1/3 tsp ( add more if you need your curry to be more yellowish)
Water - 1/2 cup
Salt- 1 tsp

  1. Cut the potatoes in 3 parts and cook them till 3 whistles in a pressure cooker and peel off the skin and slightly mash them with your hands.( in small chunks)
  2. Take oil in pan, add mustard seeds, as they splutter add cumin, asafoetida ,curry leaves and green chillies.
  3. Add the mashed potatoes with water and salt and till it starts to boil.keep stirring
  4. Turn off the stove and transfer the curry to a bowl to serve along with dosas or put in inside a dosa and serve.
