Raw Tomato Chutney

Raw tomato chutney is something which I do  when I do Juwar breads or Bajra bread ,the taste goes so well with the Bhakris. This I have done with only 2 raw tomatoes since I use lot of green chillies.The green chillies make them tasty and also makes them spicy .Can be eaten with white rice and rotis also.

Ingredients,
Raw tomatoes - 2 ( chopped in big pieces)
Green chillies - 4
Asafoetida-  a pinch
Mustard seeds- 1/4 tbsp
Cumin seeds-  1/4 tbsp
Salt- 1/4 tbsp
Oil - 2 tbsps


  1. Take a tbsp of oil in a pan,add green chillies and sauté them for a minute by closing a lid.( or else the green chillies will splutter everywhere)
  2. Take them out and then add tomatoes with the left oil in the same pan and sauté them till they are soft.
  3. Take them out and grind tomatoes and green chillies with salt to a coarse paste.(you can use a mortar and pestle for grinding)
  4. For tempering, take 1 tbsp of oil, add mustard seeds.As they splutter add cumin seeds and hing.
  5. Add this tempering to the prepared chutney.
  6. Serve hot with rice or Indian breads.

Saute green chillies with a tbsp of oil.



Cook Raw tomatoes till they are soft and
grind everything to a coarse paste with salt.
Add tempering to this.
