Veg Manchurian Gravy

Indo Chinese is something that has become so appetizing to all age groups.This time I have made vegetable manchurian gravy.Not that of a tough gravy to prepare and very tangy and tasty gravy to be served with fried rice.
Vegetables like cabbage,carrots, bell peppers( capsicum) and spring onions are cut and mixed with salt and pepper and fried,these fried veg balls are then soaked in spicy tangy sauce.I have not used any of Ajinomoto as I have read a few queries against Ajinomoto and health when I googled about it.
No Ajinomoto in my Chinese recipes.


Ingredients,
For the fried vegetable stuffed balls,

Carrots- 1/2 cup ( chopped)
Cabbage- 1/2 cup ( chopped)
Spring onions - 1/4 cup ( chopped)
Green bell pepper( capsicum) - 1/4 cup ( chopped)
Corn flour- 3 tablespoons
Rice flour -  1 tablespoon
Garlic- 1 pod ( chopped)
Salt - 1/4 teaspoon
Black pepper powder- 1/4 teaspoon
Oil - for deep frying.

For the sauce,
Garlic - 1 tablespoon ( chopped)
Red pepper flakes- 1/2 teaspoon
Ginger- 1 teaspoon ( cut into small pieces)
Vegetable stock - 1 cup ( you can also use water)
Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
Vinegar- 1 teaspoon.
Corn flour- 1 tablespoon ( mixed with2 tablespoons of water)
Sugar- 1/4 teaspoon
Salt-  1/4 teaspoon
Oil- 1 tablespoon
Green onions( spring onions) - enough for garnishing.


  1. Chop all the vegetables and mix them together in a bowl.The cabbage leaves out water a little bit.
  2. Add corn flour ,salt and black pepper powder and rice flour and mix well. Slowly make small balls out of these.Sprinkle a few drops of water if required while making them into balls.
  3. Deep fry them in hot oil.Flip them over and cook on medium flame and make sure they are cooked properly.
  4. In a pan take oil and add finely chopped garlic and ginger.Add red chili flakes.
  5. Add soy sauce ,vinegar and vegetable stock.Mix 1 tbsp of corn flour in 2 tablespoons of water and add it.
  6. Add sugar and salt and cook for 5 minutes on medium flame.
  7. Garnish with chopped green onions.
  8. Just before serving add fried vegetable balls.
Add corn flour,salt,black pepper powder and rice flour
to all of the chopped vegetables.

Make small balls out of the above mix.

Deep fry them in oil on medium flame.

In a pan take a tablespoon of oil and add chopped
ginger and garlic.

Add red pepper flakes.

Mix corn flour with 2 tablespoons of water.

Add soy sauce,vinegar,vegetable stock and the above 
corn flour mix.Cook for 5 minutes on medium flame.

Sprinkle chopped spring oinions.


Add fried veg balls just before serving.

Veg manchurian gravy.
