Masala Puffed Rice

A quick snack my mother would fix for us for an evening snack .Not that too much of oil and easy one to fix. These are much better than those junk food. I always make this and store this in air tight jars.

Ingredients,
Puffed rice- 5 cups
Cooking oil- 2 tbsps
Peanuts- 2 tbsps
Roasted Chana dal- 1 tbsp
Red chilli- 2
Salt- 1/2 tbsp
Mustard seeds- 1/2 tbsp
Cumin seeds- 1/2 tbsp
Asafoetida- a pinch
Turmeric- 1/3 tsp
Curry leaves- 4-5


  1. In a pan heat oil ,add mustard seeds.As they splutter,add cumin seeds ,asafoetida, turmeric,red chillies and curry leaves.
  2. Add roasted Chana dal and peanuts. Keep stirring so that the peanuts and roasted Chana dal won't get burnt. 
  3. Immediately add salt and puffed rice and mix well. Once the puffed rice is mixed,take the whole mixture out of the hot pot into a cool container.The hot pan also might make the puffed rice to get burnt.
  4. Store in air tight container.

Keep stirring so that the peanuts and roasted Chana dal won't get burnt. 


Add salt and then puffed rice .Mix well.
