Spicy Rice


This recipe is originally from one of my friend .This is very simple and tasty.I tried this once and i have liked this a lot and have been making this since then.This would perfectly go well during the festival season,a must have seasoning  in my pantry!

Ingredients for the spicy rice spice powder,
  1. Urad dal - 2 tsps
  2. Poppy seeds -2 tsps
  3. Curry leaves- 7 to 8 (a lot more..gives flavor)
  4. Red chillies- 5 to 6 (add more for more spice)
  5. coriander seeds-1/2 a teaspoon
  6. Grated coconut -2 tbsps
  7. Asafoetida-1/4 tbsp
  8. Sesame seeds-1/2 tsp.
  9. cooked rice-1 cup
  10. salt -1 teaspoon.

Grind all of these dry without water.
Heat a pan with a tablespoon of cooking oil as it heats add mustard seeds ,once they start spluttering add cumin seeds and a few peanuts and curry leaves with a pich of hing(asafoetida).
Add a tbsp (add 1/2 tbsp more or more spicy rice)of ground spice powder to it.
Add cooked rice with a teaspoon of salt and mix well.
